Hussein Al-Alak

Global Correspondent - Post Conflict Recovery

'I am a British based writer and editor of Iraq Solidarity News (Al-Thawra).

I have also spoken about the situation inside of Iraq, and the mental health impacts of war, to news agencies such as the BBC.

I am an active fundraiser for the mental health charity Combat Stress and I support the work of Britain's leading Holocaust education body the Anne Frank Trust UK.

In 2013, I was a guest speaker at the International Women’s Day event “50 Shades of Resistance” organised by the Anne Frank Trust UK.

My writing credits include being published by the Morning Star, Al-Ahram, the London Progressive Journal and the Palestine Chronicle and my reports have appeared in numerous publications.

I have supported the Safe World for Women website since its launch, back in March 2010, and have been in regular contact with the team ever since. It has also been an honour to have recently contributed both articles and blogs.

Other organisations that I support include the Fire-fighters Charity, Blind Veterans UK & the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.'
