SWAT: Winner of the National Peace Award, Malala Yousufzai was injured along with two other women when unidentified men opened fire on a car in Swat, Express News reported Tuesday.

Yousufzai, who studies at Khushal Public School, was on her way home when the vehicle came under attack on Haji Baba Road. One of the other injured has been identified as Shazia and sources say the third was a teacher.

Yousufzai was shifted to Saidu Teaching Hospital immediately after the incident and later she was moved to Peshawar in an Army helicopter.

According to Medical Superintendent at Saidu Teaching Hospital, Dr Laal Noor, Yousufzai’s condition was out of danger.

As the news made rounds, hundreds of people flocked outside the hospital, willing to donate blood to Yousufzai.

Two bullets hit Yousufzai — one in her head and another between her neck and chest.

According to Express News correspondent Shireenzada, unidenfitied men approached the car in which Yousufzai was seated and asked the girls sitting with her to identify Yousufzai.

When the girls, including Yousufzai, showed reluctance in answering, the gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on her car.

The Government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has taken a notice of the incident.

Hailing from Mingora, the 14-year-old Yousufzai struggled for restoring peace in Swat and education for girls in the region for which she was awarded the National Peace Award by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

When the Taliban had banned education for females in the district, she kept a diary for the British Broadcasting Corporation and wrote about the misdeeds of militants.

Yousufzai also remained a speaker for the Child Assembly in Swat, which works for child rights in the district. Later on, she was awarded the first National Peace Award by the government of Pakistan on December 19, 2011 for rendering courageous services to promote peace during the mayhem.

Anchor:  "Are you committed to getting an education; and there is no one to stop you?"

Malala:  "I don't care, I need only a place to sit and get taught. Whatever is the situation, I would get an education."

Anchor:  "Are you afraid of anyone?"

Malala:  "No I'm not afraid of anyone."

Transcript:

Anchor:"How do you see your future?"

Malala: "Our school has been opened since 15th August. For about two years we didn't attend our school as there was shelling, hovering of helicopters and cry of the people all around; and at that time Taliban by force closed the schools and then ordered reopening. So the whole two years were lost in this way. Now I am hopeful that such a tragic event won't happen in the future. But still the students are facing a multitude of problems, while they are going to their schools. On state T.V it is shown that the curfew will released for some time, but the reality is different. Early in the morning it is very difficult for the students to attend the schools as there is a ban on public transport."

Anchor;"What would you like to be?"

Malala:"I would like to be a politician."

Anchor:"What would you do as a politician?"

Malala: "Our country is full of crisis; while our politicians are lazy. I would like to remove the prevalent laziness and serve the nation."
