AWARE UGANDA (Action for women and Awakening in Rural Environment) was formed in 1989 by a group of local rural women of Kaabong District in Karamoja region, a semi-desert region in the North East of Uganda, bordering South Sudan and Kenya.

  • AWARE-Uganda is based in Kaabong Township, the administrative headquarters of Dodoth Sub-district, 72 kms from Kotido town.
  • The organisation's activities at present are confined to the districts of the Karamoja region.
  • Branch activities will expand to other parts of the district as more interest is generated in the wider region by those committed to AWARE-Uganda objectives.

 

Our Team

Founder is Mrs Grace Loumo.

On 31st May, Grace Loumo received a Certificate of Recongition for her leadership skills in campaigning against HIV/AIDS.

Staff capacity is 8 management staff, 10 board management, 150 members and 50 volunteers.
