How you can help Centre Ubuntu

women in Rwanda

Call for Volunteers in Rwanda

... For the construction of the Centre Ubuntu at Bwira, summer 2012.

To date, the childhood home of our President hosted our Centre. It is time to create more living space:

  1. For our guests occasionally staying in the Centre Ubuntu.
  2. For women cooperative members in Abihuje: design studio crafts – a permanent address for opening to foreign markets, a meeting place.
  3. For children:
  • a library (that is, the 770kg of books sent in October 2011 are in!)
  • a recreational area.
  • a room for the supervision of homework (remember that we have a little light through the three LEDs lamps and a solar panel installed in June 2011, gift of Mr. George Portoghese to whom we express our gratitude).

All this concentrated in a single building, which will be called Centre Ubuntu.

We Welcome You!

Welcome to help us build this box. We express our gratitude to Pierre Clusel who has designed the plans.

We need help bricklayers and people to help them, handing over the material, working under their instructions.

We need water carriers. As you know, to fetch water in the hollow of the mountain of Bwira takes a long waiting time, and climb down on a very steep way.

A human chain with a container at the source will go faster and thetask will be easier and more enjoyable for everyone.

We need a team in the kitchen: our work will be paced to common meals, and artists for decoration.

We will be able to start evening classes during the stay of the summer 2012. You might feel ready to do readings, calculations and other findings for children who will be supported after noon?! Kindly send us your suggestions.

Real World Experience

Result of Stay: real encounters guaranteed, you put your feet in the shoes of the people of Bwira!

Cost of living: around € 500 for a two-week stay, transportation from and back to the airport of Kigali - Bwira included.
