Surcod is working with over 25 schools in Nsanje Malawi to mobilize the communities on how to encourage their children to go to school with an aim of improving school enrollment.
We are also working with the communities on Child Labor which is also contributing much to the dropout rate.
To achieve this we need your support.
For example:
$70.00 pays school fees and boarding fees for one secondary school student for one term.
$210.00 supports a secondary school student to pay boarding fees and school fees for a year.
Our partner Harry Singh has donated towards an Access to Education Scholarship to help pay secondary school fees to vulnerable boys and girls in Nsanje District.
By August 2011 we are planning to pay School fees for not less than 10 students.
We thank Harry for the support towards improving access to education in Nsanje
Sustainable Rural Community Development Organisation for the past week was involved in the assessment of vulnerable students assessment in various Secondary Schools in Nsanje South and Nsanje South west with an aim of identifying beneficiaries of Harry Singh Scholarship.
There are many vulnerable Children out there but based on the support we have so far we have managed to come up with 10 beneficiaries.
So far Nsanje has 2500 Secondary Students who are in need of support according to District Social Welfare Office statistics. We can establish a Scholarship in your name with only $120 you can pay School fees for one year for a Secondary School going student.

"We believe that by reaching a woman we are reaching a nation because we know the big role the women are playing in the society.
If we are reaching the woman we are reaching the husband and all the children in the family"
For most of these women even to raise 1 dollar is a very big challenge.
With tools such as sewing machines, the women can learn a skill which can provide them with a steady income and contribute to their ability to save.
Such skills and tools would have a very big impact on their lives. They would be able to easily pass on such skills to their children.
The programme could be rolled out into other areas where we are in the process of establishing our organisation..
And it will create a bond between donors and the communities."
January Watchman, Executive Director, SURCOD.
