Muungano Development Gateway (MDG)

A non-profit NGO providing voluntary services to marginalized communities in rural areas of Kenya.

Muungano Development Gateway (MDG) is based in the port city of Kisumu in south west Kenya, on the edge of Lake Victoria.

MDG's main purpose is to promote peace, understanding, justice, development and information exchange among Kenyans and within the international community.

For this purpose the association recruits volunteers from diverse ethnic, national and educational backgrounds around the world, to facilitate participatory development education among marginalized community groups to become self-reliant.

MDG has 35 branches or groups in Kenya.

All branches and groups in these areas are recognized as non-governmental organizations (NGO) and/or as non-profit making organizations.

MDG has consultative status with K.V.D.A.org, W.O.F.A.C.org,, CABE, iearn Kenya.org,, N2Africa.org, Millennium village.org, United Human Rights.org.

Voluntary Services the Bridge of Human Trust

Voluntary Organizations exists in many countries, helping towards the development of varies aspects of community life.

MDG's voluntary work projects mean a great deal more than just a group of people building or repairing something. They provide an opportunity for volunteers to give something other than money or skilled service. They provide means by which people express concern for others in a very tangible way through their investment of time and physical energy, living in a community learning to work together in search of practical solutions to the country’s educational, social and cultural problems. This also helps to develop an appreciation and respect for cultural differences.

The voluntary service gives the opportunity to work towards local and world peace in a very personal way, by demonstrating a commitment to the society of human kind.

It is the bridge of human trust and understanding.
